I took mubeimmik to the airport. I already miss her deeply.
There's this song that's been stuck in my head ever since I waved a final goodbye:

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And she's always gone too long
Anytime, she goes away

Wonder this time where she's gone
Wonder if she's going to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't a home
Anytime she goes away

Bill Withers - Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

That sums it up quite nicely, I might say. Even though I do know where she's going. The house feels empty and alien alright, and the weather turned nasty too.

Time to go into town and get my mind off of things.

I'm sick to my stomach. My lovely housemate is fully responsible for this fine fact. Blergh.

Many of you will probably know by now, but I found myself a roof above my head. It's a 2-room appartment in Eindhoven (Stolen image); I'm at the 8th floor, great view, facing the south-east - which should give me more than enough sun. It's not overly large, but it's the best I could afford.

Yay me.

To quote the infamous Homer Simpson (or was it Yogi Berra?):

"It's like deja-vu all over again".

Mondays experiences have left me ever so slightly paranoid about Ikea and keeping their promises, so I thought I'd check out the delivery time for my mattress. And guess what?

"Sir, you're not in our system, go away".

GRAH!

So I went and bought a new matress last friday, at the local IKEA. Since I didn't have a car, and since transporting a 200x140 cm matress by bike is just asking for trouble, I put it on transport. Delivery was scheduled for today.

According to the receipt I got, I could check in what timeslot it was supposed to be delivered by going to a certain website. So I did, yesterday, and guess what? "The supplied postal code cannot be found in the system". Arse.

Called them, put on hold ("Safri Duo" gets boring quite easily when listening to it through a phone), got told "that it wasn't in the system". Wow, now that's something I didn't know. I had to call back after 9 am today.

So I did. Only to be put on old (Safri Duo wasn't getting any more interesting), and got told that it was still lost, and probably not going to be delivered today. SO I went back to work. Ikea called me back to ask for the delivery number (which they weren't interested in before), haven't heard from them since, apart from an explanation that they "had a new system", and that it was therefore "logical" and apparently acceptable for shipments to get lost.

Bloody wankers.

[edit] IKEA called actually called back. They're going to make another attempt wednesday.

Yet Another Language Meme - and spot on at thatCollapse )

In other news, I feel like a wreck. Even though I did sleep long enough (Went to bed at 10-ish, was barely able to crawl out at 8), I'm still dead tired - a great way to start the week. I've been vegetating in front of my desk at work, doing mindless tasks that needed doing anyway. Blech.

Raah. Why is it that it's always *me* getting to blame, just because my code trips over undocumented caveats and design errors left by others?

I really feel like having that shooting rampage now ;)
